Crocheted Can Cozy With Lid

I am using worsted weight yarn (variegated Red Heart) and a size 4mm hook. You can use any size hook or yarn if you have a pop can to compare to and adjust stitch number and row number accordingly. It's a pretty forgiving pattern since yarn stretches and you can use different size hooks, it's hard to mess this up, lol.

To Begin:  Chain 4. Sl st into first ch.

Round 1:  Ch1. 8sc into loop made. Sl st into first sc.

Round 2: Ch1. 2sc in each stitch. Sl st in first sc.

Round 3: Ch1. 2sc in first st, ~sc in next st, 2sc in next st (repeat ~ to end). Sl st in first sc.

Round 4: Ch1. ~2sc in next st, sc in next 3 stitches (repeat ~ to end). Sl st into first sc.

Round 5: Ch1. Sc in each st around, place marker. This marks the beginning row for sides of cozy.

Round 6: continuing on from Round 5 (NOT making a sl st to start a new row)
sc, ch1, ~skip 1 stitch, sc in next st, ch1 (repeat from ~ until you’ve reached desired height, usually 17-20 rows) Fasten off, but do not weave in end, you will use this later to sew on the lid attachment.
Hint- you may want to add a stitch marker every 5 rows, just to help you keep track as you go.

To Begin:  Chain 4. Sl st into first ch.

Round 1:  Ch1. 2sc into each ch (8 total sc's). Sl st into first sc.

Round 2: Ch1. 2sc in each stitch. Sl st in first sc.

Round 3: Ch1. 2sc in first st, ~sc in next st, 2sc in next st (repeat ~ to end). Sl st into first sc.
Round 4:  Ch1. *2sc in next st, sc in next 3 stitches (repeat * to end)

Round 5 through 7: continuing on from Round below (NOT making a sl st to start a new row)
               sc in each st.

This is where we will begin the attachment from lid to cozy: Continuing from last sc in Round 7, ch8, turn, and skip 1sc, sc in each st (7 total sc), sl st into next stitch on the lid and fasten off.
Now you can sew the lid attachment to the cozy, weave in ends and viola! You are finished!!
